Track 1 "Rude." I don’t mean to be rude, I’m just so driven to achieve my goals my firm direction, and strict schedule might come off as rude to others. Rude is about how focused I am. At times I find myself cutting conversations short, or even looking straight ahead without acknowledging people around me, because I’m concentrated on my goals. This song is somewhat of a subtle apology as well as an explanation as to why I do it. It’s my bad habit that I struggle with, worrying about how much time I have, and always trying to maximize every moment for more progress.

Track 2 "True." My truth is that all I actually care about is having the ability to take care of the people I love. When I think of that, there isn’t much of anything that matters more to me. This thought means a lot to me because it helps me stay focused. With the majority of the opportunities in the music industry going to younger musicians, as an older rapper, it can be discouraging to be playing what seems to be such a young person’s game. But, when I think about my truth, it reminds me to not pay attention to those thoughts of discouragement, and stay True by remembering why I’m doing it.

Track 3 "Real." Real is about the way I move. Always looking ahead, making plans for progress, staying on target, and not really making time to play any games. This might mean that I won’t be around for gatherings, and when it’s time to have fun. Those who love me may not always understand why I can’t be around at the moment, but how I see it is; if they love me right now that means they love the version of me I am today, and if I wasn’t focused on my mission I wouldn’t be the version of me that they love. Therefore, my mission will always come first, and that’s just the way it is.

Track 4 "Special." When you find someone special and you want them in your life, it’s important to be a contribution to their life. Instead of taking their time and attention solely for your gain, it’s necessary to contribute to their progression as well. In this song, I sing about a woman whose efforts to be well above average does not go unnoticed. I want her, and I want her to know if she chooses to come with me, I won’t weigh her down. But instead, I will elevate her by contributing to her progress.

Track 5 "Come Through." In this song I tell the woman that I choose her. I explain that my life experience has taught me to choose wisely when picking a mate, and I see her as a wise choice. “Let’s experience time between Heaven and Hell, on a rock in the middle of space under Orion’s Belt,” is saying let’s do life together here on Earth. In the second verse, I say that I’ve lived life a few different ways, now I know myself, and I know what I want, and I want her.

Track 6 "Affirmation." This song highlights the things in my life that are going the way I want them to go. Sometimes we could be blinded by all the things that aren’t quite working out the way we expect them to. I think it’s beneficial to remind ourselves of how far we have come, and to not forget that it wasn’t always this way. As life goes on, it may seem like things are far from going in the direction we most desire, but know that when a problem gets fixed, other problems become more noticeable because the previous problem is no longer in the way. This is affirmation that you’re heading in the right direction. Although, you might feel down and in doubt of your path, be encouraged to continue adjusting more things to your liking one step at a time.

Track 7 "Patience." This song Patience is a reminder for me to not worry about the things I can’t control, and focus on the things I can control. It can be hard, because the things we can not control seem to be louder than the things we can, but when we stay focused on the things we can control and remain patient through it all, life tends to work out. Even when things happen to go wrong, or move in an unexpected direction, know what you want and continue to aim for it. The rest will sort itself.

Track 8 "Spatula." “Big flippa, call me the spatula.” This song is about taking what you’ve been given and flipping it into something great. We more than likely will always be in a position where we don’t have all that we want to move forward, but learning how to take what you do have and use it for the purpose of your progression is a very important skill when it comes to success. In this song I shine a light on my ability to do that efficiently.

Track 9 "Grown Ass Man." Growing up I’ve seen somewhat of a general belief that a man can’t be a strong, masculine man unless he’s some type of gangster. I never liked that idea. Just because a man isn’t gangbanging doesn't mean he's soft, or can’t handle his business. I’d like to change that way of thinking in our culture. In this song, I express my thoughts about that. I understand that the concept of keeping it gangster isn’t actually about being a gang member. It’s actually about being a stand up guy however, words are very powerful. Over time the message gets messy, and our youth doesn’t seem to understand the true meaning. That being said, I think we should choose our words carefully. “I ain’t no gangster, I’m just a grown ass man.” A man can be a strong, masculine, stand up man without being a gangster.

Track 10 "Fwayzie." Fwayzie is a word I made up to express when something is obnoxiously fly. “Keep it Fwayzie,” suggests that one is persistent in remaining above mediocre in everything they do.

Track 11 "Runner." Runner is about chasing your dreams. What could be named the theme song of this album, “all my hard work is ‘gon rise,” suggests that my efforts to succeed will indeed pay off. I wanted to make a motivational workout song where I sing about staying focused on your goals. A triple percussion, backed by a consistent bell, following a 145 beats per second tempo for four minutes and twenty two seconds. The song is set up perfectly to run a 4 minute mile. The timing of the ambient breaths in the background (in through the nose, out through the mouth) line up perfectly to take each step forward while maintaining a steady pace.

Track 12 "Pimpin on A Dream." As a kid I used to dream about pursuing a profession in some form of artistry. As most dreams go, they faded away behind the responsibilities of becoming an adult. However, throughout the time I wasn’t pursuing my dreams I learned a lesson that keeps me going to this day. The life you want isn’t going to pick you, you have to specifically choose it for yourself. Now, as I’m putting all that I have into making my dreams come true, it feels like I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. The phrase “Pimpin on A Dream” suggests that I’m in control of my life while I’m making my dreams a reality.
